I live on 7 acres of sandy hills, sinkholes and wetlands. The "soil" is poor and dries out quickly so I tend to grow larger plants that can cope - like palms, grasses, trees and shrubs. I especially like (cold-hardy) palms and have about 2 dozen hardy species here. I'd like to grow more edibles and vegetables but will wait on doing that until I get a fence to keep the deer and varmits out.
