Ginny Stibolt is a naturalist and a gardener with a master's degree in plant taxonomy. After she and her husband moved to Florida, she started, her community column for Jacksonville's Times Union called Adventures of a Transplanted Gardener. Her columns are now posted on Floridata, as well. The columns give her a chance to dust off her botany texts and research topics that she writes about.
She also maintains a website with her gardening log, her articles, and more information for gardeners. Ginny is particularly interested in helping gardeners make a difference in the environment. Her columns on rain gardens, rain barrels, and using native plants have received the most attention.
Ginny always carries her digital camera and has captured butterflies, hornworms, polka-dotted wasp moths in her gardens and meadows. She illustrates her gardening projects with photos, so her readers can see what she’s dealing with. Ginny likes to hear from gardeners who have questions, suggestions, and comments. The most asked question: “How do we get rid of those smelly stinkhorn fungi?” Go to her website for some suggestions on that topic.
